I wrote Fred the Frog, Who Was Afraid to Leap to help children find courage, reassure them that it’s okay to feel scared, and show them, through Fred, how to overcome fear.
As you read the book, you’ll see that when Fred feels lost and confused, he decides to share his fears with his mother. This was included intentionally to encourage children to reach out to a trusted adult when they feel uncertain. You’ll also see that after Fred gathers the courage to leap, he doesn’t quite make it to the lily pad he aimed for. Nevertheless, his mother is proud of him, and more importantly, he is proud of himself.
It was important for me to celebrate effort, inner strength, action, and courage, rather than simply focusing on success, as I believe that when these traits are practiced consistently, success will follow naturally.
It is my greatest hope that you and your child will enjoy this book in the loving spirit it was written and intended.
This is a wonderful book filled with wisdom about self-empowerment and courage. It is beautifully written and teaches children the importance of asking for help when needed. Every child who’s afraid to leap can relate and benefit from its message.
An inspirational children’s story about finding inner strength and overcoming fear. It encourages children to share their emotions and talk about their feelings through its uplifting and normalizing message.
