Happy in My Own Shoes was an important book for me to write. It tells the story of a smart, sweet, and creative girl who has a tough week at school. The book follows her journey as she tries to fit into the shoes of people she admires, describing their qualities that she wishes to imitate, only to realize that none of their shoes fit. As she continues her journey, she gradually moves from self-doubt and worry to empowerment through self-acceptance.
It’s an easy, playful, and fun read that entertains and engages children while teaching them important lessons alongside the main character. Although written for young children, the book offers profound messages about overcoming adversity, gaining a new perspective, moving forward, and finding strength and joy through self-acceptance.
It is my greatest hope that you will enjoy this book in the loving spirit in which it was written and intended.
This darling book has a perfect theme for young minds. It illustrates to children that they are the happiest when they accept themselves. It is beautifully written, and gently deals with issues at the forefront of today’s young society. I can’t wait to read it to my class.
This book cleverly conveys an important message about self-acceptance in a playful and entertainment way. It provides a realistic and practical tool for parents, teachers and psychotherapists who teach and guide young children to improve their self-image and increase their self-confidence while being true to who they are.
